I heard some of you were injured in port, and even worse in one case! I hope you're all taking it easy and recovering well now that you're back aboard the ship. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know!

From what I heard, the port sounded like a pretty tame place. How is it things turned out this way?

I suppose I should look at this as a vacation, really. Some time aboard a ship, visiting other worlds, with much less work to do than I used to have before... Well, here's to fresh starts! I'm going to give my all to being a warden and I can't wait until I'm assigned an inmate to look after! I know I'll really make a difference here.

These journals can be read by other people, right? Wow, Captain Kurotsuchi would probably love to look at this technology. Anyways, my name's Momo and I'm happy to be joining you all!

Momo is a sweet soul that only wants to do the right thing and help out those she cares for. While these two priorities confused things for a while when Aizen was manipulating her, she'd never do something bad or unjust.
Item: A scroll
How Long Have You Been Here?: She's only recently been transferred to the Barge from Soul Society. They felt it would help her recover to give her something else to focus on, and that as a lieutenant she'd be able to handle anything that might happen there.

Abilities/Powers: Momo's specialty is kido, magic spells fueled by spirit energy. She needs to speak a brief incantation before using them, but so long as she can do this her spells can pack a good punch. She also has her zanpakuto, the standard weapon of shinigami, but she rarely uses it and will likely not carry it with her most of the time on the barge.

Personality: Momo is a girl who's emotions tend to come first. She thinks with her heart, and while that may be a strength for someone who's job it is to protect the souls of the dead, it also leads to some very bad things. When pushed, she's been known to make very rash decisions based on whatever she's feeling at the moment. Granted she doesn't typically fly off the handle for little things, but when something involves the wellfare of someone she cares about then she's not the best at being level-headed. One might say she's passionate to a fault rather than unhinged, though at the moment this isn't entirely true.

Due to the betrayal of her Captain, Aizen Souske, and his attempted murder of her, Momo's been understandably unstable. While initially upon waking up she would make up elaborate stories as to how Aizen was innocent and would get hysterical about the subject, she's made progress in accepting his crimes and is on the road to a mental recovery. It was thought that giving her something else to think about by assigning her to the Barge would help this process as it would keep her mind off of what had happened. Her purpose had once been to serve Captain Aizen so now, with a new purpose, it's expected that she'll return to her former self. Because of this, Momo comes to the barge with a fair understanding of how it generally works (she's already spent many years in the afterlife) though the stranger floods and ports will probably leave her as confused as anyone else.

Her former self was that of an innocent, romantic soul with a desire to do the right thing and protect others. She had an immature, naive outlook on life in which the good guys always win and the bad guys are fairly judged. Though her slow acceptance of Aizen's betrayal may leave her slightly more jaded, this view of the world is still fairly intact as seen in her fear that Aizen will be killed for his crimes. She also tends to believe that people should be happy the majority of the time, which can sometimes lead to her bottling up unpleasant emotions or at least not sharing them with anyone, not even her friends. She'd rather deal with them on her own than have anyone worry.

Momo usually makes friends easily and goes to lengths to find a good side in everyone. She's likely to try and bond with her inmate and will be prepared to defend him or her as necessary. She believes that truly bad souls are a rare find and that most people have some good in them. She's quite moral and inexperienced with most vices despite her age, which of course leaves her open to some mild corruption by the less well-intentioned aboard the barge. That said, she still knows the most basic and important right-from-wrong and isn't one to be manipulated into any extremes without some very elaborate and convincing lies. She'd have to think something was the right thing to do before she'd do something out of line with her beliefs.

History: From what one can tell from the story thusfar, Momo died and came to Soul Society (the underworld/afterlife in Bleach) at a very young age. Since souls rarely manage to find their former relatives in the large underworld, Momo was taken in by an older woman along with another younger boy, Hitsuguya Toshiro. The two were raised together like brother and sister and were both found to have strong spiritual energies early on. When Momo was old enough, she entered the academy to start her training as a shinigami. There she met her close friends Rukia, Kira and Renji, who were all in the same class level with her.

One day during training, she and her class were attacked by corrupted spirits called hollows. They were rescued by the newly appointed captain, Aizen Souske. Momo had already noticed him in Soul Society, finding him attractive, and now she began harboring a secret crush. She worked even harder at her studies, determined to be placed in service under him once she graduated. Eventually she did, joined initially by her friends but eventually left alone as they were reassigned to other squads. Though Momo thought she was keeping her feelings secret, Aizen knew from the start how she felt and so doted on her. First he was more like a father figure to her, but eventually he allowed their relationship to grow into something Momo could easily interpret as unspoken love. She was made his lieutenant, spending even more time at his side, as she grew more and more devoted to him.

Around the time that Ichigo and his friends from the living world infiltrated Soul Society, Momo learned that her old friend Hitsuguya Toshiro, now a squad Captain, was suspicious of another Captain, Ichimaru Gin. Captain Gin and Aizen seemed to be butting heads a lot recently, so Momo became nervous. One night she came to Aizen's room, partly to speak with him about her fears and partly just to be closer to him. He allowed her to stay, covering her with his robe to comfort her, until she fell asleep. Aizen finished the writing he was working on and slipped out of the room. Momo awoke late the next morning, immediately rushing off to the meeting she was meant to be at. However on the way there, she was stopped dead in her tracks by what she saw against one of the building walls.

It was Captain Aizen, stabbed with his own sword, his dead eyes staring coldly ahead as his blood ran down the wall beneath him. Though initially stunned speechless, Momo's eventual scream of horror drew other captains and lieutenants out. Including Captain Gin, who seemed quite casual about the find. Assuming his guilt, Momo immediately reached for her sword and triggered it's initial release state. Her friend Kira, who was now Gin's lieutenant, stepped in to protect his Captain but Momo only attacked him in her efforts to get to Gin. It was Toshiro that stopped the fight and Momo was taken to a cell while the murder was investigated.

While locked up, Momo's friend and fellow lieutenant gave her a letter she'd found in Aizen's room. When Momo read it, she found that Aizen had expected to be killed that night and that if he had been murdered, that it would have been Toshiro who had done it. Confused, enraged, and still heartbroken, Momo broke out of her cell to confront her friend. Toshiro, who had been questioning Gin when Momo arrived, did his best to fight Momo off without injuring her, but eventually she was knocked out. She was taken this time to the medical building to be looked after while she recovered while again the rest of Soul Society set about finding Aizen's murderers. Given the state of emergency, all Captains and lieutenants were given permission to draw their swords as needed.

A few days later, while everyone else was distracted by either the murder investigation, the intruders, or the upcoming execution of Momo's friend Rukia, Momo awoke and again broke out. Going by Aizen's letter, Momo investigated the Central 46 chambers on her own. There she found the whole council murdered, and soon after Captain Gin. Before she could act, however, Aizen appeared before her unharmed. He explained that he needed to conduct his own investigations in secret and so faked his death, but Momo was just so happy to see him alive that she embraced him, crying in relief.

Aizen smiled sweetly down at her, whispered to her "thank you... and goodbye" and ran her through with his sword. Momo collapsed on the floor and passed out. Eventually the Captain of the fourth squad, the division specializing in healing, found her and she was saved from death. During this time however it became clear that Aizen and Gin had been working together, along with another captain Tousen, and that Aizen had actually engineered everything that had been happening so that he could steal a hidden piece of extremely dangerous technology with a then unspecified use. He used the chaos to defeat the other captains in his way and escape to Hueco Mundo, the world where hollows dwelled, where he could continue with his plans aided by his own army of elite hollows.

Momo remained in a coma for a long time, and when she awoke she was inconsolable about what had happened with Aizen. She was convinced that there had been some mistake and that Aizen was still good, or else simply deceived by Gin. She often needed to be tranquillized to be controlled but eventually she began a slow but steady recovery. She reluctantly accepted that Aizen had in fact betrayed them all, though she did better when she didn't think about it. For this reason it was decided that she should be restationed as a warden aboard the barge to give her purpose while she finished healing. They wanted her to recover soon, as a final battle against Aizen and his army was approaching. More than that, the head of the 13 protection squads feared that given the chance, Momo might again be influenced by Aizen and defect to his side. Being on the barge would keep her out of reach from him while she healed.

Please please PLEASE feel free to poke me here about how I'm doing with the character. Criticisms are welcome.
